Q.No.156: - Why must the volume of a
stereo in a room with wall-to-wall carpet is turned higher than in a room with
a wooden floor?
Ans: - Volume of a stereo in a room with wall to wall carpet must be
tuned higher than in a room with a wooden floor because reflection of sound is
more prominent if the surface is smooth, and less if the surface is irregular.

More vibrations are produced in a room with wooden floor than a carpeted floor which causes more loudness. that's why stereo volume is kept higher in carpeted room.
Good question. Yes! wall to wall carpets provides the smoothy and comfortable floor, which cause absobness of sound. You must be tuned higher volume in wall to wall carpeted room.
