Q.No.194: - What nuclear reaction would
release more energy, the fission reaction or the fusion reaction? Explain.
Ans: - Fusion reaction release more energy than fission. In a
Hydrogen bomb two isotopes of hydrogen, deuterium and tritium are fussed to
form a nucleus of helium and a neutron. This fusion releases 17.6MeV of energy.
The energy per nucleon is much greater in fusion than in fission. In fission
large nuclei break apart and create small ones.
